This forms part of the City of Culture’s WaterWAYS Festival and on Saturday 30, we’ll be bringing back Roam + Dwell with all kinds of free creative movement and activity at the Canal Basin. Ludic Rooms will celebrate the forthcoming May Day with a number of traditional and experimental folk activities,  taking inspiration from the weaving ribbons of the May Pole. as well Crewdson & Cevanne’s canal based rites. 

Most activities will be drop in, but there are some you’ll need to book; 

Bookbinding Workshop

Secret Knock will be running a bookbinding workshop to create special editions of the Rites for Crossing Water book, including the opportunity to act out some of the rites for yourselves. The bookbinding workshop will take place at 2.00pm and will last approximately 2 hours. Suitable for ages  10+.

Maypole Dancing 

We will be running Maypole dancing activities at 11.00, 12.00, 14.00 & 15.00. However we only have a limited number of ribbons, so there will be sign up sheets on the day to make sure as many people as possible get to enjoy the experience of traditional folk dancing.To book your places, contact bally@ludicrooms.com 02476 555 678

RS:Nights is a new regular free social event for people interested in digital ways of making. Bringing together producers and practitioners from across disciplines to share, play and make new connections. For each event we’ll be hosting visiting contributors from around the UK to share their practice and show off their latest wares on a given theme.

Our first theme is ‘Art & Games’. There’ll be lots of opportunities to play and explore a host of experimental games as well as enjoy a few drinks in the company of interesting creative people.

Aye aye, me hearties, you can expect a piratical theme as during the night, video game company Rare take us out into the Sea of Thieves. The city’s own post-digital play gurus Ludic Rooms will curate a host of activities. Plus big games for lots of people, board games to delight your inner geek, pervasive games for the downright silly – all with street food, and a bar.

Moving Image Lab is an experimental media and digital arts programme for young people in Coventry, designed and delivered by Ludic Rooms in partnership with Warwick Arts Centre’s Creative Learning team.

MI:Lab participants from President Kennedy School and Westwood Academy together with WAC’s MI:Lab group will give demonstrations of the technology they’ve been using and take you behind the scenes to show how they’ve created the effects, from holograms and green-screening to projection-mapping. A
chance to see how much they’ve learnt this term, and what might happen when the groups return in the Autumn.
